Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom

Main Street USA is the gateway to the Magic Kingdom, featuring mostly shops and restaurants with a small number of attractions. There are certain times of day you’ll want to avoid if you’re sensitive to sound and crowds, but overall for the most part it’s a nice stroll through the early 20th century.

Rides/Attractions

Main Street Vehicles

The Main Street Vehicles typically operate in the morning only, before it gets too crowded throughout the land. There are a variety of open air vehicles offering transportation up and down Main Street. There’s no height requirement, no lapsitting (except for young kids), and no seatbelts/lapbars. Strollers must be folded and may not be allowed on board, depending on the vehicle. They are slow moving vehicles, and sometimes the Cast Member may narrate the journey.

Walt Disney World Railroad

The railroad has three stops, one on Main Street, one in Frontierland, and one in Fantasyland. They operate most of the day, although it may close before fireworks. The vehicles are open air with no seatbelts or lapbars. There’s no height requirement, and lapsitting is allowed for young kids. Strollers must be folded unless it’s being used as a wheelchair (wheelchair access available at Frontierland & Fantasyland). The trains are slow moving, with a loud whistle, and has narration the entire route.

Break Spots

There are a few break spots if you need a moment to step aside. First, when you enter the park just before the train station, and under the train station, it can be a lot quieter than on Main Street proper. When you enter Main Street, on the far right and left, there are a couple shady alcoves that can be quiet. Halfway down Main Street on the right, you’ll find Center Street, a dead end street. There isn’t much shade but there aren’t usually many people back here. Finally, on the far left just past Casey’s Corner, you’ll find the Baby Care Center and First Aid.

First thing in the morning, parade time, and fireworks time will have the heaviest crowds.

Shops

The shops on Main Street are pretty much all connected, so you can walk from one to the other without stepping outside. This is handy during the heat of the day or storms, but keep in mind that the crowd levels inside the shops can fluctuate. A good time to go shopping is during the parade, or first thing in the morning, to avoid low crowds!
