2023 Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party Review

A couple weeks ago, I experienced Seats & Sweets at Magic Kingdom for a showing of Happily Ever After. I’d been on a fireworks cruise at Epcot, but this was my first Magic Kingdom fireworks party experience! Without further ado, let’s dive into my 2023 Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party review!

What is Seats & Sweets?

There are 3 different Happily Ever After dessert parties – the pre-party, post-party, and Seats & Sweets. Seats & Sweets takes place before and during the nightly fireworks. You’ll get unlimited desserts, light snacks, and drinks – alcoholic and non-alcoholic. You’ll also get a table at the Tomorrowland Terrace area while you enjoy your desserts and during the fireworks show itself. After the show, you can linger for a few minutes, but the Cast Members will begin cleaning up, signaling it’s time to head out.

What Desserts & Drinks are at Seats & Sweets?

First, I would recommend eating dinner a couple hours before going to the event. You don’t want to consume a bunch of sugar on an empty stomach!

When I did the dessert party, there were not only tons of desserts and drinks, there was also a fruit tray with some toasted bread rounds. I believe there may have been cheese as well, although I’m not a cheese fan (I know, I know) so don’t quote me on that.

There were alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available. Water, hot coffee & tea, sparkling cider, POG juice, milk, and a couple other non-alcoholic drinks were available in a serve-yourself station. As far as alcohol goes, there was champagne and a selection of beers and wines. The Cast Members pre-poured the drinks and had it set out on a table, so all you had to do was go pick up what you wanted and bring it back to your table. They kept it well-stocked the whole night and there was never a line for drinks.

Now, the desserts… so many desserts. Cupcakes, mousses, chocolate covered strawberries, donuts, fancy pudding cups, mini pies, and more await you! On our night they also had a crepe station and a decorate-your-own cookie station. Remember, everything is all you can eat… so come back whenever to fill your plate, or pile it as high as you want on your first trip to the dessert station!

My strategy was to grab a plate full of desserts so I didn’t have to get up so often. I got one of everything that sounded appealing to me. There were a couple that contained ingredients I don’t like (such as coconut) so I skipped those. I then went over to the bar and grabbed a glass of wine and champagne. I never needed to refill my plate, but I went back for a couple additional glasses of wine and a glass of champagne to enjoy during the fireworks.

How Long is Seats & Sweets?

We began checking in at 7pm, but since there was a bit of a line we got seated around 7:30 or so. The fireworks began at 9, so we had over an hour to enjoy the treats and talk with each other. The fireworks show is about 15-20 minutes long, and we stayed for a little bit afterwards. We left the area around 9:35, 9:40. I would definitely recommend getting to the area at 7pm or even a little before to make sure you’re one of the first parties to check in!

With Seats & Sweets, you’ll be seated on the lowest level of Tomorrowland Terrace. A Cast Member prior to check-in told me it was first come first serve seating, but we were assigned seating when we checked in. We were a large party of 9, with most of us having reservations as a party of 1. Once we received our wristbands, we were asked to step to the side and they were checking to see if we could be accommodated at one table or if we would need to split into two tables. Thankfully, we were able to sit at one table altogether! We were pretty much dead center, right in front of the dessert table.

The Cast Members let us know that once Happily Ever After began, we could move our chairs closer, since there is an overhang that partially blocks the view. We were not allowed to stand so we didn’t block anyone’s view. I was really glad we were able to move our chairs freely as we got a better fireworks view! Unfortunately, it was raining that night, but the overhang kept us mostly dry – the breeze picked up a bit and we got wet!

Here is our view – you can see the guests at the front tables moved back under the overhang due to the rain.

The view of Happily Ever After was great, and it was so nice to be able to watch it from a chair without anyone blocking my view! Tinker Belle did not fly that night due to the weather, so I can’t report on what that view looks like. I’ll have to come back!

Who is Seats & Sweets Good for?

If you want a dedicated seat for fireworks, Seats & Sweets is a good option for you. I’d also recommend this for a special occasion – birthday, anniversary, or other celebration! Little kids may have a hard time with the temptation of all the desserts, but it totally depends on your kiddos and how they handle the combination of staying up late in a theme park and sugar. My kids probably would not do so great until they are older, but I would definitely bring my husband here for our anniversary, and I’m looking forward to doing so some day!
