Disney World Transportation Series: The Skyliner System

The Skyliner is Disney’s newest form of transportation around Walt Disney World Resort! These enclosed (but ventilated) gondolas are a fun way to get around – but, if you’re afraid of heights, you might want to skip this one. They are completely wheelchair accessible without transferring! Strollers can also roll right on, but if it’s a side-by-side, you may need to collapse the stroller to fit through the doors, so be prepared for that possibility if you have a side-by-side stroller!

As of publication, Disney is no longer separating parties into their own cabins, and you may be asked to share during peak travel times.

Stations

Each station is covered, offers restrooms, and is fully accessible for guests with disabilities! For those requiring extra time, don’t worry about holding up the entire Skyliner system – special cabins are off to the side that join the track when guests are safely on board.

Here is the wheelchair loading area, off to the side of the normal load!

International Gateway to Riviera Line

The International Gateway station is right outside the International Gateway entry to Epcot. From this station, you can walk to Epcot’s entry, or any of the BoardWalk area resorts – Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas, Disney’s Beach Club Resort & Villas, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, & the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin. Walk times vary depending on which resort you’re headed to, and it may be faster to take a Friendship Boat from the World Showcase to your final destination – check out how to get around using boats here!

The Skyliner from International Gateway drops guests off at Disney’s newest resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort. It’s a quick walk to the resort restaurants & amenities from the station! Guests may also choose to stay on board for the next stop, Caribbean Beach.

If arriving at the International Gateway station from the Riviera station, guests must disembark.

Riviera to Caribbean Beach Line

If you choose to stay on at the Riviera station, your next stop will be Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. This is the “hub” of the Skyliner and offers transfers to the following destinations:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort & Disney’s Pop Century Resort
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • World Showcase

All guests must get off at the Caribbean Beach Resort station, even if you’re planning a return trip to the Riviera or International Gateway. At this stop, guests enjoy access to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

Caribbean Beach to Hollywood Studios Line

From Caribbean Beach, it’s a quick ride over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! At the Hollywood Studios station, guests must disembark. From here, guests can visit the theme park or walk over to any of the BoardWalk area resorts, or board for return service to the Caribbean Beach station. The BoardWalk area resorts are a bit further of a walk compared with the walk from the World Showcase station, but boat service is also available.

Caribbean Beach to Art of Animation & Pop Century Line

From Caribbean Beach, the ride to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort & Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a quick trip! At that station, guests must disembark. From here, guests may visit either of the two resorts, or head back on to the Caribbean Beach station.

Caribbean Beach to Riviera Line

The final route from the Caribbean Beach station takes guests back to Disney’s Riviera Resort and onto Epcot’s International Gateway! Guests can stay on board at Riviera Resort if they’re heading back to World Showcase.

If you’re like me, you’re always looking to end the day with a visit to Epcot!
