Missed out on Oogie Boogie Bash? Wondering what to do at the Disneyland Resort to get into the Halloween spirit? Here’s a sampling of what to expect during Halloween at Disneyland
Disneyland Park
Attraction Overlay – Haunted Mansion Holiday
Jack Skellington and our Nightmare Before Christmas friends “wreck” the halls of the Haunted Mansion each year, and everyone with a Disneyland park ticket can experience this attraction.
Tips
- Genie+ is available at this attraction! For the lowest wait time, consider booking a Lightning Lane for this one.
- Visit this ride at opening for a low wait time, and less crowding on the inside portion of the queue.
- This attraction can be scary for little ones, so if you’re unsure, you may want to preview it on YouTube first.
- The Haunted Mansion is lit up beautifully at night – it’s worth a glance if you’re in the area!
Visit Disney Characters
Mickey, Minnie, and other Disney friends visit throughout the day on Main Street, U.S.A. dressed in their cutest Halloween costumes! They are usually found around Town Square (the area of Main Street, U.SA. closest to the Park entrance). Jack, Sally, & even Haunted Mansion characters have been spotted in New Orleans Square!
Tips
- Lines for these characters can be long! Pack your patience and don’t be upset if a Cast Member cuts off the line.
- If the line gets cut off before you’re able to meet them, ask a Character Host or Hostess when they’ll be out next!
Photo Opportunities
The giant Mickey pumpkin head on Main Street, U.S.A. is the perfect spot to get your picture taken! This is located right behind the flag pole in Town Square. Another cute photo opp is at the Partners statue, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Our friends Walt & Mickey are surrounded by carved pumpkins featuring some of our favorite Disney friends.
Tips
- The giant Mickey pumpkin head typically has two lines. One forms by the flag pole, and one forms on the right if you are looking down Main Street, U.S.A. towards the castle. Both spots have a PhotoPass photographer on hand, so have your Park admission ready to hand to them. They are also happy to take a pic with your own camera or cell phone!
- The Partners statue also has a PhotoPass photographer available.
- During nighttime entertainment, these areas get extremely congested, and eventually unavailable during the show. Grab your picture early for the best results!
Entertainment
Halloween Screams fireworks show is available on select nights throughout the Halloween season! Additionally, catch the Dapper Dans throughout the day on Main Street, U.S.A. performing catchy tunes.
Tips
- Some nights, it is just a projection show. Check the daily schedule; if it says “Halloween Screams with Fireworks”, fireworks are planned unless weather interferes.
- The Dapper Dans show times are listed on the daily schedule!
Food
The food offerings are available all over the Disneyland Resort! A Food Guide is available at the Park entrances, so be sure to pick one up!
Tips
- Many quick service locations offer mobile ordering! This is an awesome time-saver and I highly recommend using it!
- If you want to dine at a table service location, make a reservation. Same day availability is limited.
Disney California Adventure Park
Attraction Overlay – Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
Guardians of the Galaxy gets a spooky twist during Monsters After Dark! Check it out at DCA nightly. During the daytime, it’s still the regular form of the attraction.
Tips
- Height requirement is 40″!
- This experience may be frightening for younger ones!
Attraction Overlays – Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween & Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
Located in Cars Land, these two attraction feature seasonal Haul-O-Ween music to get you in the spirit!
Tips
- Both attractions have a height requirement of 32″!
- FastPass and MaxPass are not available at these attractions.
- Make sure to check them out at night for fun lighting effects!
Visit Disney Characters
On Buena Vista Street, find Mickey & friends dressed up in their Halloween costumes! At Plaza de Familia, near Goofy’s Sky School, find Miguel and participate in Coco-themed activities!
Tips
- Lines for these characters can be long! Pack your patience and don’t be upset if a Cast Member cuts off the line.
- If the line gets cut off before you’re able to meet them, ask a Character Host or Hostess when they’ll be out next!
Photo Opportunities
There are so many awesome photo opportunities during Halloween at DCA! At the end of Buena Vista Street, find the headless horseman with a glowing pumpkin. Throughout Cars Land, there are fun Cars-themed Halloween decorations.
Tips
- PhotoPass photographers are usually available at the headless horseman and at various locations in Cars Land. Have your PhotoPass card ready! They can also take pictures with your camera or cell phone.
- Make sure to check out these locations at nighttime. The lighting is so fun!
Downtown Disney & The Disneyland Resort Hotels
Downtown Disney
Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins! Pumpkins have filled the planters at Downtown Disney, making for fun and festive photo opportunities! Be sure to check out Marceline’s Confectionery for spooky treats, and stroll through World of Disney to see some of the latest Halloween merchandise!
Disneyland Resort Hotels
The hotels typically decorate for the holidays, especially the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel. They may also offer special treats for sale!
