Disneyland Resort Future Expansion Plans: DisneylandForward – New Experiences, Attractions, & Parking

On March 25, 2021, Disneyland announced plans for a major expansion to the Disneyland Resort, dubbed DisneylandForward! While all this is dependent upon the city of Anaheim’s approval, here’s what we know so far. And remember, this is all blue-sky ideas! Things can definitely change and I’ll keep this updated as we know more details.

DisneylandForward: New Lands, Attractions, & Restaurants

New expansions in the Disney parks at Shanghai and Tokyo are inspiring potential changes to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Specifically cited are:

• Frozen-themed area with boat ride, and restaurant inside a castle
• Tangled-themed area with gondola ride to the lantern festival, and restaurant similar to Snuggly Duckling
• Neverland-themed area featuring 2 attractions: one a boat ride with Tinker Bell, the other a journey to Pixie Hollow; also includes a restaurant inspired by the Lost Boys

Do note that the above-mentioned areas are not given a specific location, and possibly are planned for a third theme park. The potential third theme park is situated between Disneyland Hotel & Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, roughly where the Simba parking lot is today.

For Disney California Adventure Park, the following information is given:

• Zootopia-themed area with a new major attraction
• Toy Story Land with Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, arcade games, and Woody’s Lunch Box restaurant
• TRON Lightcycle Run rollercoaster

DisneylandForward: New Entertainment, Shopping, Hotels, & Dining

This new area would be situated where the Toy Story Parking Lot currently is today. It appears to be modeled after Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs. Specifically cited in the plan are: restaurants, hotels, live music, shopping, ticketed shows, and theme park experiences.

DisneylandForward: New Parking

Disney plans to invest in the Anaheim Resort area’s parking, transportation, and pedestrian safety. A new parking area is also planned for the eastern side of the Disneyland Resort, off of Disney Way & Harbor Blvd.
