The Backlot Premiere Shop on Stage 17 recently opened at Downtown Disney (technically it’s in Disney California Adventure, but Disney is billing it as “Downtown Disney”). I visited the second day of its operation; here are some tips to help make your visit easier!
- Go on a weekday, if you can!
- Arrive early.
- If you want something specific, there is a wider selection at World of Disney.
- Double check here for limited edition items – recently, limited items such as the Madame Leota sipper have ended up here as well as World of Disney. World of Disney is still the more crowded location of the two, so you may have better luck at the Backlot Shop!
- If going to this shop is your only goal, consider parking off-site at one of the local hotels. Although parking at those locations isn’t free, the security & temp check lines on the Harbor side entrance tend to be less busy.
Overall, my experience at the new shop was not as great as I was expecting it to be – it was easy to get in and out, yes, but mostly I was disappointed in the lack of items exclusive to this shop. I’m hopeful that in the coming weeks, a wider variety of merchandise becomes available!
