In a couple months we will be headed to Walt Disney World for a family trip! This time, it’ll be just our little family. The three of us have been before, but never just the three of us. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the trip happens, in light of current events. We know that everything is up in the air, and we are keeping an open mind about things. We plan to go if the hotel is open, and we will be happy just hanging around the hotel if that’s what it ends up to be!

Who?

Me – 29 – return visitor
Husband – 33 – return visitor
Son – 1, almost 2! – return visitor

My husband and I have visited many times, he hasn’t ever been without me, but I’ve been on girls’ trips and with my mom and grandparents on a couple occasions. We also just returned from an adults-only trip in January. Our son has been on an extended family trip when he was six months old, and with me and my mom when he was just under a year old.

When?

Early-mid July! It will be hot but we will survive!

Where?

We actually have not booked our flights yet because we aren’t really even sure if this trip is happening. But we will probably fly out of John Wayne Airport, and will definitely fly into MCO. We are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, in a Standard Deluxe Studio!

What?

We have some low-key days in store, for the most part, and we have to remain flexible since we will have our son with us, but we do have some fun things planned! I’ll have my AP so I can go into the parks any day, and my son gets in for free. My husband has a 5 day one park per day ticket.

Day 1 – Travel Day / Arrival Day / Non Park Day

We don’t know when our flight arrives, yet, but we aren’t going to a park that day. We are planning to rent a car, just for some added flexibility. We plan to eat dinner either on the way from the airport to the hotel, or at the hotel itself. We will also probably stop by a Target or Walmart to pick up some diapers & other supplies. Travel Tip: We don’t like packing diapers, wipes, or baby food in our suitcases – we just carry what we need in our carry-on for the day – it takes up a ton of room! We either have it delivered to our hotel or we will stop by a store real quick at our destination.

Day 2 – A Low Key Day

We’ve always wanted to explore the area around Walt Disney World, so we are going to be driving around and seeing the sights a little bit. We will probably come back to the hotel for nap time, and spend some time hanging at the pool, since our son loves to swim! Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is also really close to Disney Springs, so we can head over there for the evening.

Day 3 – A Low Key Day

Another low key day for us! More pool time, Disney Springs, maybe a ride around the Monorail, who knows!

Day 4 – Epcot

We’re going to kick things off with our favorite park, Epcot! We have FastPass+ plans and a lunch reservations, but we are okay with exploring and taking things at our son’s pace, especially since there aren’t too many attractions in World Showcase.

FastPass+:
Living with the Land: 9-10am
Mission: Space 10-11am
Frozen Ever After 11:05am-12:05pm

Lunch at Rose & Crown – 12pm

We have to take turns on Mission: Space, since our son isn’t tall enough. Luckily in the exit, there is a nice air conditioned area to wait around in! Right after Frozen Ever After we’ll head across to the UK for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Rose & Crown! We will spend the rest of the day exploring World Showcase, largely following our son’s lead.

Day 5 – Magic Kingdom

We’ve got some good FastPass+ plans lined up for this one, and haircuts for both the guys!

FastPass+:
Space Mountain: 9-10am
Haunted Mansion: 10:10-11:10am
Splash Mountain: 11:20am-12:20pm

Harmony Barber Shop – 10:40am
Lunch at Be Our Guest – 12:20pm

So, I’m thinking we will head straight to Space Mountain, taking turns on that one. We will probably take turns taking our son on Astro Orbiter and the Mad Tea Party while we each get a turn on Space Mountain! Then we will meet up at Haunted Mansion, and head over to Harmony Barber Shop together. Of course, our plans are adjustable and it’s okay if we miss our FastPass+ or have to change some things around.

Day 6 – Animal Kingdom

This is where things get a little tricky, because we weren’t able to get the best FastPass+ reservations! But, that’s okay, we will make it work!

FastPass+:
Kilimanjaro Safaris: 9:40-10:40am
Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost: 10:40-11:40am
Avatar Flight of Passage: 5:40-6:40pm

This was the first day I selected FastPass+ for, because I know it is difficult to get FastPass+ for Avatar Flight of Passage. 5:40pm was the first timeslot available! I have never seen times this late, even last summer when we were there! I’m going to keep checking to see if I can modify for a better time, but for now this is what we have. We also have no dining reservations today, so we may go back to the hotel for lunch. We are going to play it by ear.

We plan to take turns at rope drop to do Expedition Everest, then do Kilimanjaro Safaris. We will also explore the animal trails and then use our FastPass+ to meet the Disney friends. Lunch is up in the air, then maybe we’ll head back to the room. We will see how the day progresses! We are definitely coming back for Avatar Flight of Passage!

Day 7 – Magic Kingdom

Back to Magic Kingdom we go!

FastPass+:
Space Mountain: 9:05-10:05am
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: 11am-12pm
Peter Pan’s Flight: 12-1pm

Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern at 12:15pm

We are going to wrap up whatever we missed on day 1 at Magic Kingdom, and enjoy lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Hopefully we can score some good additional FastPass+ reservations as the day goes on! And maybe we can repeat some of our favorites, too!

Day 8 – Epcot

On our final park day we are going back to Epcot. This is our favorite park and we like ending our trips there.

FastPass+:
Mission: Space: 9:20-10:20am
Frozen Ever After: 10:20-11:20am
Living with the Land: 11:20am-12:20pm

Lunch at Tokyo Dining at 12pm

We will have to take turns with Mission: Space, again, and we plan to do single rider on Test Track, also. We will figure that out into our plans at some point, or maybe we will score additional FastPass+ for that at some point throughout our day. We will also probably be able to adjust our Living with the Land FastPass+ up, once we scan in for Frozen Ever After, so we aren’t so pressed for time to get to our lunch reservation at Tokyo Dining.

Day 9 – Now It’s Time to Say Goodbye!

On our final day, we have no plans, as we will be heading back home. We don’t have a flight time yet, but we will be driving back to the airport in our rental car. It’s always a sad time leaving Walt Disney World, but this will be extra sad as my AP will be expiring, and I have no plans to return anytime soon. Sigh. It’s always hard when you have no trips to look forward to. I think our next Big Disney Trip might be a Disney Cruise, but we will see! We’ll keep our fingers crossed that this one goes forward as planned, and I’m looking forward to sharing our trip report with you!
