New Orleans Square is unique to Disneyland Park in Anaheim; no other Disney park around the world offers a land themed to New Orleans. It opened in 1966, and was Walt’s last public appearance in the park before his death.
Let’s take a look at some of the details of New Orleans Square!
The Haunted Mansion opened at Disneyland Park in 1969. Located at the far end of New Orleans Square as the Park transitions into Critter Country, it is filled with some of the best work of Imagineers from the early years of the Park. It’s my personal favorite attraction; it will get its own post at some point in the future!
This water fountain is located just outside of the entrance to the French market. I love the tile work and the ornate metalwork surrounding the fountain.
Here is some more wall decor, located outside of the Pandora jewelry store, across from the new entrance to Club 33.
These details are located in the Fowler’s Harbor area, where the Columbia docks when it’s not traveling the Rivers of America. I love the different knots displayed on the left.
This statue appears in a garden in the middle of a walkway. I wonder what secret he’s keeping?
New Orleans Square is home to several fantastic restaurants such as the Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans… and Club 33, if you are lucky enough to get in! (If anybody knows of a way to get in, please let me know so I can go!).
The land has many attractions: Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion are the headliners, but don’t forget about the Disneyland Railroad, and the Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island.
There are also several nooks and crannies in the land that are worth exploring, which is where a few of these pictures came from. Don’t forget to stop by and say hi to Pirate Red when you find him!
